- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar until combined.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed; avoid overmixing.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in the pans for about ten minutes before transferring them to wire racks. Once cooled, frost with your favorite icing and garnish as desired.
