- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
- 1 Tbsp whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ cup red and green jimmies sprinkles
- ¼ cup granulated sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Mix in egg, egg yolk, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Gently fold in red and green sprinkles until evenly distributed.
- Scoop dough, roll into balls, coat in sugar, and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.
- Cool briefly on baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, increase almond extract to ½ tsp.
- Make sure the butter is at room temperature for the best texture.
