Description
A delicious and comforting dessert that combines the rich flavors of pecans and salted caramel.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups day-old bread, cut into cubes (French or brioche works best)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Bread: Place the cubed bread into a large mixing bowl and let it sit to dry out a bit.
- Mix the Custard: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes. Gently fold the bread to ensure all pieces are coated. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to soak up the liquid.
- Add Pecans: Fold in the chopped pecans and maple syrup until evenly distributed.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Drizzle with Caramel Sauce: Serve warm, drizzled with salted caramel sauce.
Notes
- For best flavor, use quality maple syrup and caramel sauce.
