Description

A deliciously seared ribeye steak, seasoned simply with salt and pepper and finished with butter and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ribeye steak (12 oz)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Pat the ribeye dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Add olive oil to the skillet, swirling to coat evenly.
  4. Sear the steak for 4 minutes without moving it to create a crust.
  5. Flip the steak gently with tongs, add butter and herbs around it, then cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.
  6. Baste the steak with melted butter before removing it from the skillet.

Notes

  • For best results, let the steak come to room temperature before cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
  • Rest the steak for a few minutes before slicing to retain juices.
