- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (such as French or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- Additional pecans for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Prepare Bread: Place the cubed bread in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Mix Custard: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Combine: Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold to ensure all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Add Pecans: Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Transfer to Dish: Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly.
- Drizzle Caramel: Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top of the bread pudding.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will help it set and make it easier to slice.
- Serve Warm: Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.

- This bread pudding can be made with any type of bread you prefer, but day-old bread works best for texture.
- For a richer flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or dried fruit.
